Transforming Conservation Through Regenerative Tourism

The Safari Defenders Initiative (SDI) is a non-profit organization powered by Purple Elephant Ventures (PEV). We partner with a coalition of over 20 African tourism companies to supercharge tourism in Africa's remote conservation areas.

Our mission is to transform these underfunded areas into financially sustainable destinations by driving $1,000 per square kilometer per year in tourism revenue. We achieve this by implementing innovative and regenerative tourism models that benefit both local communities and biodiversity. Our coalition provides expertise in destination branding, experience design, accommodation quality, human resource development, and more.

Mission

The Safari Defenders Initiative's mission is to be a powerful coalition of tourism partners driving USD $1,000 per square kilometer per year in tourism revenue into conservation areas across Africa. Simultaneously, the initiative aims to enhance the social, economic, and ecological value of these spaces.

This effort seeks to turn 100% of Africa's conservation areas financially sustainable through innovative and regenerative tourism models that benefit local people and biodiversity.
